Our Environment
The physical environment of our office, the waiting area, the building, and even in the surrounding yard, affects your child’s physiology. Before a child reaches our office, their nervous system has taken in cues of safety or danger, and a story has been created to match their experience. We engineer the clinical environment that tells a story of safety and ‘welcome’.
By attending to our office setting, we nurture children from the start and shape a response of safety and connection.
What Is the Safe Sound Protocol?
The Safe and Sound Protocol is a unique listening therapy designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while increasing social engagement and resilience.
The Safe and Sound Protocol strengthens and regulates the middle ear muscles to:
- Dampen background noise and improve perception of human speech.
- Affect the Facial and Vagus nerves that control facial expressions, vocal intonations, gestures, and promote a state of relaxation.

What Makes Us Different
Our therapists spend intentional time giving cues of safety throughout the therapeutic process. Research on home environments indicates that features of spaces affect what happens within those spaces and influence the thoughts and moods of the people inhabiting them (Graham, Gosling, & Travis, 2015). The office is a psychological and physiological “home”.
A peaceful environment is essential not only to create cues of safety for your child but also as a basic ingredient in their own self-care. A space that extends a safe welcome is a space that supports the difficult work of therapy for both you and your child.
