safe sound pediatric therapy
our advantage
By attending to our office setting, we nurture children from the start and shape a response of safety and connection. Putting on a white coat and meeting in a sterile environment does not guarantee good service. We believe that speech and language develop best in a natural environment. Safe Sound Pediatric Therapy invites the whole family into the therapy process. Arriving for therapy is more like visiting at a friend’s house.
Our Facilities

Children come from complex family systems. We try to honor what a child brings to the communication process and make changes that include the whole family. Because our facility looks like a neighborhood home, and the environment so closely resembles what a child is already familiar with, there is reduced anxiety regarding coming to speech. Children know how to act in a home, so we are able to get a clearer picture of how the child communicates more quickly and plan an intervention program that works. Safe Sound Pediatric Therapy practices under the trademark of natural environment. We are the only clinic in the Pacific Northwest with this privilege.
more about
therapy and environment
- First, a child observes others for the presence of tension and stress in the faces, body position, and body language. When we are safe and available for connection and social engagement, these areas are relaxed and held in an open fashion. (Porges S. , Polyvagal Theory, 2019)
- If others seem relaxed, then they will exhibit warm expressive faces with “melodic voices” which engage the sense of safety in the individual’s nervous systems. (Lindaman, 2019)
- In addition, they will exhibit relaxed body postures, with open gestures, that complement the warmth and expressiveness of their verbal and prosodic communication which also increase the individual’s sense of safety.
- When the environment is free from noxious noises, smells, visuals, etc the individual is able to feel safe in proximity to others so that the individual’s system can allow for interpersonal connectedness. (Lindaman, 2019)
- When the individual experiences an environment that is safe with these consistent cues of safety, they can develop social engagement and connectedness with others.
